Healthcare IT is in the midst of a revolution. Far from its leaky-ceiling basement beginnings, healthcare information technology (HIT) is now a strategic business differentiator with a key to the executive washroom. Challenged to innovate new patient and provider application services while maintaining traditional client-server applications, HIT teams are seeking ways to ensure investments in the management and maintenance of traditional systems don’t prevent the delivery of new digital experiences now and into the future.

Testing full recoveries of IT environments requires a proven methodology. Establishing and meeting RTOs, configuring a cloud recovery system, and tracking your changing environment are all critical components of a successful cloud recovery operation. In this expert Technical Guide, learn how Jamie Evans, Senior Manager of Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) for EVault, helps clients complete a full recovery of their systems.
Attacks today incorporate increasingly sophisticated methods of social engineering and client-side software manipulation to exfiltrate data without detection. Some attackers leverage so-called spearphishing to entice employees to give up access information and spread their attacks to other enterprise systems; others use password crackers against compromised applications in order to gain further access rights to the network. The attackers might also set up channels for command and control communications with the compromised systems, as in the case of the Zeus or SpyEye bot infections.

Overview
Key Challenges
Organizations still struggle with communication between data owners and those responsible for administering DLP systems, leading to technology-driven — rather than business-driven — implementations.
Many clients who deploy enterprise DLP systems struggle to get out of the initial phases of discovering and monitoring data flows, never realizing the potential benefits of deeper data analytics or applying appropriate data protections.
DLP as a technology has a reputation of being a high-maintenance control — incomplete deployments are common, tuning is a never-ending process, lack of organization buy-in is low, and calculations of ROI are complex.

Embracing mobile devices, thin clients, new app delivery systems, and BYOD all represent a huge challenge to IT. The incredible amount of flexibility, productivity, and employee satisfaction that can be gleaned from the support of such initiatives is massive. However, this shift comes at a high price in terms of increased infrastructure cost and the increased complexity of managing it all.
With its clients’ needs as the cornerstone of its mission, a research and consulting firm in the healthcare industry wanted a better way to manage its business. The company had been using various spreadsheets and systems to track project and financial information, which made finding data time consuming and inefficient. As a project based business, with the majority of its projects ranging from 2-6 weeks in duration, the organization wanted an integrated solution to help optimize its overall project management approach. The firm selected Deltek and since implementation has experienced numerous benefits, including increased time savings, improved visibility into financial data and enhanced performance.

As with many large, established banks, our client's infrastructure was centered on a core banking system that was dependent on packaged systems and highly complex backends. Each time a new product was launched or changed, the back-end had to be reintegrated with the customer-facing channel.
This was time-consuming and the bank wanted to speed up their time to market, in order to respond to the customer demand for product innovation. They therefore, needed to move from a predominately peer-to-peer (P2P) oriented multi protocol architecture to an API-Based integration platform, and set out to find a partner by issuing a request for proposal (RFP). We were keen to respond, but wanted to present a proposal with a difference.
Distributed systems enable different areas of a business to build specific applications to support their needs and drive insight and innovation. While great for the business, this new normal can result in development inefficiencies when the same systems are reimplemented multiple times. This free e-book provides repeatable, generic patterns, and reusable components to make developing reliable systems easier and more efficient—so you can free your time to focus on core development of your app.
In this 160–page e-book, you’ll find:
An introduction to distributed system concepts.
Reusable patterns and practices for building distributed systems.
Exploration of a platform for integrating applications, data sources, business partners, clients, mobile apps, social networks, and Internet of Things devices.
Event-driven architectures for processing and reacting to events in real time.
Additional resources for learning more about containers and container orchestration systems.

While retailers scramble to manage the impact
of omnichannel on their operations, the way they
communicate with customers, and the methods
they use to promote their products and reward loyal
shoppers, many have neglected to consider what
will likely be the most profound change of all: the
overall impact of omnichannel data transparency.
Omnichannel is destined to transform every aspect
of the retail industry, including the store—its
design and layout, the inclusion of mobile pointof-
sale and clienteling systems, the impact of
transparent inventory and what that means for
fulfillment, a single view of the customer and its
implications for loyalty programs, and even the
physical location of stores. Retailers must stay
ahead of the omnichannel curve if they expect to
remain competitive in the race for customers in a
commerce anywhere world, and that contest begins
at the brick-and-mortar store.

GigaOm is seeing a new breed of services that promise to accelerate the mobilization of existing enterprise applications and business processes. Early mobile-application development solutions (MADP) were resource-intensive, requiring custom client code for each supported platform, as well as an on-premise middleware layer to connect mobile clients to enterprise backend systems. In this new model, code-free, configuration solutions - aimed at business analysts and lines of business- are revolutionizing the landscape, consolidating tools and services to simplify cross-platform enablement, and reducing time to deploy and cost tremendously.
This report describes mobile-application configuration (MAC) tools, articulates their business value and suggests conditions under which they may be a good choice for an organization.
